Now is not the time to over-analyze. Step out boldly.
Never has there been a better time to talk about the importance of swift, bold communication. Employees already had enough to deal with when Covid-19 drove many to work from home. Now we’re faced with more challenges as civil unrest sweeps through our country.
This gives us an opportunity to evaluate and improve our approach to communication.
Leaders must move swiftly, forsaking exactness for action. We must be more adaptable. We must have the courage to take risk, recognize that we might not have all the answers, and enroll others – including front-line employees – to help us craft and distribute messaging.
Regardless whether we are dealing with a crisis, or large-scale change in our organization, we must communicate confidently. Employees and other stakeholders need assurance that we will be okay.
This video briefly describes the topics we’ll discuss during June. I will share how to communicate effectively using examples of experiences I’ve had working with executives. We’ll talk about how to keep purpose in front of your team and how to make it appealing to them. Even the toughest changes – such as downsizing – can be an opportunity to share benefits.
